This course provides a review of both traditional and next generation approaches to identifying and characterizing pathogens. After this review, the course explores how genomic sequence data can complement these identification and characterization approaches and, in some cases replace these methods all together. This course is composed of 5 lessons with multiple chapters allowing for clear understanding of each topic. We anticipate this course will require 4 hours to complete and we recommend spreading this across multiple days.
- Instructor: Vasanta Chivukula
- Instructor: Alan Collins
- Instructor: Will Overholt

This course will help participants understand various aspects of constructing and interpreting phylogenetic trees, a key part of understanding bioinformatic data analysis.
